![]() Northwestern is on a five-game winning streak with the last three being against Purdue, Indiana and Iowa, all at home.Ĭhris Collins’s team is on fire, and since it’s only one game back of Purdue in the Big Ten standings, there’s a good chance its still fighting for a regular-season conference championship next week. This is the one game that I can’t see PSU winning. ![]() I think the opposite plays out this season. Last season, Penn State dominated Rutgers at home before losing a tight one in Piscataway. Rutgers is 17-10 overall, 9-7 in the Big Ten and a good bet to bet to be in the NCAA Tournament. It will be hard to the second meeting to go any worse, but Rutgers is still a tough out. Penn State’s first game against Rutgers this season inspired Shrewsberry lighting into his team perhaps more than he ever has in a postgame press conference since he became Penn State’s coach. Overall, Ohio State just has the feel of one of those games that Penn State should win, but won’t. Penn State’s had trouble inside all season, so this could be a problem. Additionally, Ohio State’s top three scorers, Bryce Sensabaugh (16.5 PPG), Justice Suieg (12) and Zed Key (10.8) are all at least 6-foot-6 and 210 pounds. Coach Micah Shrewsberry’s team is 2-6 on the road in Big Ten play, and although he’s unpopular right now, Holtmann is an established head coach. With that said, this matchup feels like trouble for Penn State. Penn State, for all its problems and inconsistencys, has been better than Ohio State this season. Coach Chris Holtmann might or might not be on the hot seat, but it’s indisputable that his team hasn’t been good. Ohio State is 3-13 in the Big Ten, behind every team in the league expect the woeful Gophers. ![]() That pretty much sums up how things are going in Columbus. Ohio State is the only Big Ten team that’s lost to Minnesota. The team has four games left, and here are my predictions for each one. Penn State is on the NCAA Tournament bubble and can’t afford many more setbacks. Lions go cold offensively late.Although there’s excitement, there’s also anxiety. Tough call goes against Pickett late on charge. Had it within their grasp, but couldn't overcome another slow start to the second half. ![]() That's a tough loss for the Nittany Lions. I think the lack of a center is a factor but man it just seems like they never get a call or bounce to go their way. This fuckin team gonna play themselves right out of the tournament When will the refs start be consistent in the big ten? I dont think I ever seen so many offensive fouls and acting. Effort is all we can hope for.Ĭan we ever play a complete game? Good lordĪlot of terrible calls. There is nothing special about Wisconsin at all, and you are one of the oldest teams in CBB.Īll the unbridled excitement, yet it’s the usual sub-500 B1G record in January. You need to start winning games against mediocre teams like this. I think the refs favored Wisconsin the whole game…lots of questionable calls goin against us! Get em next time.īad loss. Hardcore Penn State Football January 18, 2023 We’re not Hardcore Penn State Basketball but…pain. Refs screwed us and we still should have won I’m sick man Saturdays matchup against Nebraska becomes even more of a must win for Penn State if they hope to make the NCAA Tournament Turnovers and a tough whistle make it hard to win road games in the Big Ten. Frustrating loss at a place where Penn State has never won. Not writing this team off by any stretch, but that’s the bottom line. įeel like a broken record in saying that Penn State needs to win these types of games to take the next step. And tough for PSU to ever get these calls. Still, should have been no call, with Pickett in position for offensive rebound and go-ahead putback. ![]() tE97J28KINīall didn’t go in, so I blew that part of it. Have another look at the charge called on Jalen Pickett late in this one. The people of Twitter had plenty to say about that call and Penn State’s loss. The team’s best player, Jalen Pickett, drove to the basket and got called for a controversial charge. With less than a minute to go, Penn State had the ball, trailing 61-60. ![]()
